day 2! :)
i handle 6 patients today :) supervised by Mam Rye sympre :D hehehe but it was fun. its about learning new things about being or moving more quickly. :) like they said, trial and error. Mam Rye was really really helpful :) she answered all my questions. i know verrry soooon i can really handle patients by myself already. asking less questions and maybe even take verbal/telephone orders :P
Mam Elizabeth also oriented us about good relationship with the Attending Physicians as well as the Residents :) she was right naman :) if it was me, i would also like someone to accompany me during my rounds especially the one who is with the patient 8 hours a day (if i ever become a doctor :P ) hahaha maybe sometimes with all the things happening inside the ward, we often forget the little things :) NOTED! 1/17/12 9:30pm *trodat mark signiture* :)))
i think i was a bit frazzled with everything. I forgot about the billing and things :)) but yea im getting the hang of it :) i think sooo :))) i really need to learn how to converse via telephone :| seriously aswell as read doctors handwrittings. im thinking about taking a class on that :) i think mam Apple kinda noticed me being a bit stressed about the meds. and told me its ok to ask the students to do it :) but for me i think its a learning experience for me as well. i have to learn all the dilutions and stuff about the meds. not everyday students are there to help me out. i havta learn to manage my time more efficiently. work faster but accurately :) luckily for me my patients were had benign cases. what if i had the one with the broken knee or the one who has OF feeding or BT? how will i distribute my time?
like i said, its a learning thing. I have to get used to everything that is happening. i have to start thinking and analyzing on my own. yes it is alright to ask but i still have to learn how to move without being closely supervised :)
sooo out of our 6 patients.. 2 were given the go signal to go home, and one was sent home already :D and this was given to us for the good job station 4 did :)
kinda made me feel good about our job :) atleast they appreciate the things we did for them :)
one of our student nurses even got i think a cake or something. one of our patients appreciated their health teaching about taking care of a new born that she gave them something :) aren't our patients sweet? :)
what else did i learn today? mmmm.. ahhh ASSESS ASSESS ASSESS!! especially IV lines. :) i must admit i still haven't tried inserting an IV line. and i kinda fear that i will never will. or not now. i dont know. i dont think patients in Station 4 will let a VN like me practice on their hand :| i really really want to learn how!! anyways. i have to remember to assess everything about my patient :) dont get confused :) clear mind always! and yea i have to learn all the different cases again. different abbv still. and ofcourse medications. For now i know i still have time to check MIMS, but i still have to learn the basics by heart :) what to give and not to give :>
tomorrow will be the LIBRE NG BAGO SA STATION day :) hahaha i was actually wishing that Mam Ruby and Mam Grace would be there tomorrow. but if not. its okay i think. :) Mam Rye, Mam Tin, Mam Grachie and Mam Rose were awesome today :) and Mam Lovely aswell yesterday :) sympre Mam Rose din!! :>
hahahaha
sooo when i got home.. POWER NAP! 3hours pre dinner :P :)) i should really start working out before taking my nap. atleast to lose some weight :| my diet ended up badly (Thanks Soderno) :)))
wiiiiii tomorrow is another day! :) goodluck to me :>
